World culture in Skåne
With art galleries, exhibitions that focus on the city of Helsingborg and its cultural history, music, theater, youth culture, stores and restaurants, Dunkers kulturhus [cultural arts center] has something for everyone. This magnificent building is situated in mid-town, with a view of Öresund Sound. Dunkers kulturhus is part of Helsingborgs Museer, which also includes Fredriksdals Friluftsmuseum [open-air museum] and Kulturmagasinet [cultural warehouse].
Lund, one of southern Sweden's coziest towns, is home to Kulturen, the biggest museum in Skåne. Here the visitor will find unique collections from every corner of the world – old-fashioned toys, medieval weapons and household equipment, among others. Permanent exhibitions share space with temporary installations. Beginning 17 February 2008 and continuing for about a year, the theme at Skånska Kulturen will be China. Kulturen's own collections will be supplemented with borrowed items that reflect China and Chinese art and culture dating back thousands of years.
